Never stop learning! With so many people sharing their experiences and knowledge, the information is endless. If you go to the bookstore or library you will find hundreds of books, each claiming to be the answer. With bold statements like, “Lose Weight in 10 days!” and “How to be Healthy”, how do you know where to start? As you probably know, not all books are created equal.
Below are some of my personal favorite must-read books to get you started on your healthy-eating, gut-reviving journey.

I received a great book from my mother for Christmas. Having spent some time picking through each and every page, I have found this book to be very helpful! Heal Your Gut by Lee Holmes is filled with recipes that would please almost everybody. All recipes are labeled gluten free, dairy free, wheat free, sugar free, and vegetarian. Aside from the huge selection of recipes, it also talks about how to heal your gut. It provides meal plans and helpful tips! It is a great cookbook and a great learning tool for anyone seeking help with their gut.
Another book I have read a couple years ago is Clean by Alejandro Junger. As a cardiologist gone natural, his book is packed with information explaining the science behind the gut issues, in an easy-to-read manner. In it, he provides a step-by-step plan to find out what is really bothering your gut (or your whole body, for that matter!). The last half of the book is filled with recipes that are safe for most everyone.
Eat Clean, Live Well by Terry Walters was suggested to me by my mother-in-law. Is is packed full of great recipes, and like the others, safe for most everyone. She has written a few books, all excellent guides! She teaches how to live and cook naturally and seasonally.
This isn’t based around avoiding all food intolerances, yet this is still a great recipe book! It contains over 500 unique recipes based around a gluten-free diet. Some example recipes include: Lemony Garlic Kale-Lentil Salad, Rice Pudding with Apricots, and Meat Loaf-Stuffed Green Peppers. If you are creative in the kitchen looking for new ideas, this is a good book for you.
A MUST read book, Dr. Ozner talks about how the American medical system is procedure driven, especially when it comes to cardiology. He talks about how a plant based diet can reverse cardiovascular disease.
